City lofts with history for Zwettl

25.05.2022

The SWIETELSKY subsidiary Georg Fessl revitalizes the listed building.

In the center of Zwettl, five holiday apartments with a total of 18 beds are being created. A common room, a "SONNENTOR room," and an additional space for events in the attic complete the project. The garden will invite guests with SONNENTOR herbs and cozy spots to relax and recharge. The house from the 13th/14th century borders the city wall. This section of the wall is to be made accessible as part of the renovation. The client places special emphasis on the history. Therefore, the old substance of the building will be preserved or adapted. The founder of the organic herb and spice trading company SONNENTOR, Johannes Gutmann, is investing two million euros: "It's about the history. The city has roots, and we do not cut them off, but rather we bring them to bloom."

The work has been ongoing since October 2021. Georg Fessl has been commissioned with the construction work. This includes revitalization, carpentry, roofing, and plumbing work, as well as structural reinforcements. "It is an impressive building and one of the first stock houses of the Middle Ages. They only forgot about the foundation back then," said managing director René Zinner. In the summer of 2023, the doors of the holiday apartments under the name "Sleeping with History" will open at Zwettler Landstraße 53.
