Demolition Project at the Port of Linz: An Exciting Assignment from Linz Service GmbH

The Linz Service GmbH has entrusted SWIETELSKY with a challenging project: the demolition of Silos 8+9 and the social building at the Port of Linz. With a contract value of approximately 1.5 million euros, this project was successfully implemented from August 2023 to May 2024.

Sustainability and Recycling in Focus

Under the leadership of Ing. Leblhuber from our ZNL Waste Management & Resource Management, the project was successfully carried out. The buildings, up to 45 meters high, mainly consisting of heavily reinforced concrete and bricks, were dismantled using our powerful demolition equipment (CAT 340 UHD, CAT 330, CAT 326). In total, we managed a demolition volume of around 106,000 m³ of built space.

Prok. Ing. Karl Krischke, branch manager of ZNL Waste Management & Resource Management, emphasizes: “Our sustainable approach is particularly noteworthy: On-site, we processed about 50,000 tons of concrete and construction debris, recycling more than 90% of the waste. This consistent separation of waste fractions and the production of quality-assured recycled building materials is an important contribution to environmentally friendly construction.”

Effective Follow-Up and Future Use

After the demolition work, the existing basements were filled with certified material to prepare the area for new buildings. This forward-looking and effective planning and execution not only ensures compliance with the requirements of our clients but also offers sustainable and innovative solutions for future projects.
