LEAN pilot construction site in Vienna

13.04.2023

The automotive production has long relied on "lean management": The SWIETELSKY branch High Construction East is gaining experience with the project in Steinergasse/Bergsteiggasse in the 17th district. CEO Peter Krammer was on site.

On the construction site, the work steps are deliberately recorded and timed. Each project is unique – and yet there are many processes that are always the same. With the help of LEAN, these recurring processes are made transparent and used for advance planning: "By using LEAN, we have managed to optimize the process and save several weeks of construction time," says construction manager Manuel Kreutzer, satisfied. This time gain is not only appreciated by SWIETELSKY as the general contractor but also by the client FAMILIENWOHNBAU.

CEO Peter Krammer visited the construction site and was impressed by the significant added value from the use of LEAN. Branch manager Erich Laller is pleased with the experiences: "It is a great thing for me that we have a pilot project in High Construction East and a young construction management team that is dealing with the topic of lean processes at SWIETELSKY. This allows us to build important know-how and make it available to our colleagues."

The completion of the facility with 60 apartments is planned for the 4th quarter of this year. Thanks to LEAN, several weeks earlier than expected.

LEAN:
Lean Construction Management means viewing the entire process in construction projects as a process and ensuring a smooth and effective construction site operation. Plans are developed as efficiently as possible and only as detailed as necessary. This requires ongoing coordination among all parties involved. Additionally, the LEAN methodology reduces waiting and idle times.
