The major project of the new railway line Wendlingen-Ulm is now nearing completion – the first ICE trains with passengers are expected to run at speeds of up to 250 km/h on the line as early as December 2022.
It's time to look back on an exciting and successful period and reflect on the past months and years: Our project film provides exclusive insights into the major project of the new railway line Wendlingen-Ulm and features colleagues who have played a significant role in the success of the project.
About the project
The new railway line between Wendlingen and Ulm, for which SWIETELSKY, together with its ARGE partner Rhomberg Bahntechnik, is responsible for track construction and railway technology equipment in the ARGE Schwäbische Alb (ABSA), is a true major project: 120 kilometers of solid track, of which 60 are in tunnels, 2 major bridges, 24 switches, 12 tunnels, and a contract volume of around 250 million euros. Additionally, the construction of 50-Hertz systems as well as telecommunications and railway power systems, the laying of approximately 1,300 kilometers of cable, mechanical equipment with ventilation systems, technical rooms, and signage, as well as the installation of 60 kilometers of illuminated handrails are included. Therefore, up to 70 employees and 200 skilled workers are present on the construction site every working day, working in a continuous process – sometimes seven days a week – to make the new railway line between Wendlingen and Ulm a reality.
