SWIE energie: new electrical installations for the Jettenbach power plant – Töging am Inn (D)
22.08.2022In Töging (Bavaria), an almost 100-year-old power plant is being replaced by a new building. The SWIETELSKY subsidiary is responsible for the renewal of the electrical installations of the Töging power plant and the Jettenbach weir facility. The plant is expected to supply around 200,000 households with renewable energy in the future.
The contract includes the connections of the medium-voltage system, the cabling of all plant components, as well as the installation of safety technology. This includes the fire alarm and access control systems, as well as emergency lighting and object radio. Above the newly constructed dam, the SWIE energie team has laid a total of 52 cables with a total length of 18,000 meters for the protection and control technology to the substation and connected them in the control houses of Bayernwerk AG. The total length of all installed electrical cables and lines amounts to 270,000 meters, which is approximately half the flow kilometers of the Inn (517,000 meters). A total of 8,000 meters of cable trays and ladders were installed in both structures. A major challenge was the construction of the two long-span cable ladders made of aluminum. These works could only be carried out using a bridge inspection device.
To ensure comfortable control, the KNX bus was used, and several lines were set up in the power plant, intake structure, and weir facility. On the control panels, programmed lighting scenes such as flood, passage lighting, and the like can be selected. Additionally, data is transmitted to external works via a KNX weather station to, for example, close windows. The completion of the entire power plant is scheduled for mid-2022. The client, VERBUND, is investing around 250 million euros in the expansion of the power plant. The new construction is expected to achieve an increase in performance of around 20 percent. This will deliver even more valuable green electricity to the region.
