SWIETELSKY expands Gols station (Bgld.)

14.04.2022

On April 8, 2022, the station was ceremoniously handed over to the client, NSB – Neusiedler Seebahn GmbH.

The railway construction division, branch office Vienna, carried out the renovation as the general contractor from September 2021 to March 2022. In addition to the new construction of the tracks and switches, the SWIETELSKY railway construction team handled numerous tasks outside the core business: the construction of the platform and the platform roof, the cabling work, the outdoor facilities, as well as the planning and execution of the expansion of the safety technology, including the relocation of signals and integration into the existing safety system. The planning, new construction, and adjustment of the overhead line, including the mast positioning, completed the project.

The cross-trade planning and overall coordination of the construction project posed a special challenge for the project manager, Thomas Lechner, and the project team around the chief foreman, Harald Bernhart. Thanks to the cooperative collaboration with the railway operator, the construction management, as well as the planners and subcontractors, the proper commissioning took place on April 3, 2022. The contract volume was around 5.60 million euros. The second railway track and the new covered central platform enabled an extension of the timetable to a half-hour interval during peak traffic times. This investment aims to make switching to the train more attractive, especially for commuters.
