SWIETELSKY: Promoting young talents as the foundation of success in the construction industry

10.09.2024

In the construction industry, not only technology and precision play a crucial role, but also the promotion of team spirit, commitment, and the pursuit of continuous improvement. An outstanding example of this are Stefan Huber and Christoph Kurz, two young talents who completed their training at Georg Fessl GmbH – a subsidiary of SWIETELSKY AG. After their victory at the Austrian Skills 2023 in concrete construction, they will represent Austria at the WorldSkills 2024 in Lyon, an international competition where 47 participants from Austria will showcase their skills.

Georg Fessl GmbH has been focusing on the training of young professionals for over 100 years. The company currently trains 33 apprentices in six different professions and aims to support young talents not only in their craft but also in their personal development. “We promote every employee according to their talents and abilities,” explains master builder René Zinner, managing director of Georg Fessl GmbH. “To ensure that there is no void after the apprenticeship, we offer continuous further training measures.”

“We are keeping our fingers crossed!”

Peter Krammer, CEO of SWIETELSKY AG, emphasizes the importance of apprenticeships for the entire construction industry: “The apprenticeship is the foundation of our industry and one of the most important pillars of our success. It not only ensures the quality of our projects but also creates the skilled workers of tomorrow who tackle challenges with commitment and expertise. Without qualified professionals, there is no sustainable construction industry. Our mission is clear: to build better, and that starts with training. My fingers are crossed! Best of luck to the two guys!”

August Weichselbaumer, COO Austria, reaffirms: “In the apprenticeship, we shape talents, promote innovations, and build together a future-proof construction world. We wish our participants and the entire Austrian team all the best in the coming days and will eagerly follow the competitions.”

Strong competition – Fair play

The participation of Stefan Huber and Christoph Kurz in the WorldSkills 2024 demonstrates the high training standards in our company. With talent, they face an international comparison with teams from countries like Hong Kong, Germany, Japan, and many others.

However, participation in the competition would not have been possible without the support of numerous partners. Special thanks go to the Construction/Wood Union, the vocational school for construction trades in Vienna, and various partner companies that have made significant contributions through high-quality equipment and training.

For SWIETELSKY, the promotion of young talents is a central part of the corporate philosophy. With this focus, we aim not only to attract the best professionals for our company but also to actively shape the future of the construction industry.
