ATG Entertainment secures Swietelsky as a strong partner for the Theater im Prater

The long-established Upper Austrian company will be the construction partner for the building construction of the Theater im Prater in Vienna.

Vienna, 2 February 2026 - Another milestone for the Theater im Prater: ATG Entertainment has signed the building construction contract with the long-established Upper Austrian company Swietelsky. This means that one of Austria's most renowned construction companies will be responsible for the structural engineering of the new musical theatre in Vienna's Wurstelprater.

‘In Swietelsky, we have gained a partner with the highest level of technical expertise and extensive experience in the implementation of complex construction projects,’ says Matthias Prichzi, Managing Director of ATG Live GmbH in Vienna. ‘We are very pleased about the collaboration. Together with Swietelsky, we are taking an important step in the construction process and giving the theatre in the Prater its structural form.’

Now that the excavation work has been completed, the second construction phase is beginning, in which the concrete, steel and timber structures will be erected. This will give the musical theatre its first visible shape. The roof is scheduled to be completed by the end of the year.

Covering an area of 12,000 square metres, state-of-the-art theatre, audience and backstage areas are being created that set new standards for contemporary theatre infrastructure. A key structural focus is on the comprehensive accessibility of the theatre, which will provide equal and comfortable access for all visitors.

Swietelsky is also delighted: "The Theater im Prater has an impact far beyond the building itself: it underlines Vienna's cultural and economic appeal as a European metropolis. Investing in modern theatre infrastructure creates long-term added value, jobs and new impetus for tourism, suppliers and the entire region. We are delighted to be working with ATG Entertainment to implement this flagship building construction project and thus further strengthen Vienna's international appeal," emphasises Peter Krammer, CEO of Swietelsky AG.

With the building construction partnership now confirmed, the Theater im Prater is continuing to take shape and providing an important boost for Vienna as a cultural and economic centre. The new theatre is scheduled to open at the end of 2027.
