Innsbruck/Linz, 21.03.2025 – SWIETELSKY signs alliance contract with TIWAG and partners – main construction lot of the Imst-Haiming power plant – total contract volume 450 million euros.
With the signing of the alliance contract for the main construction lot of the Imst-Haiming power plant, SWIETELSKY is setting another milestone in tunnel construction. Extensive experience, in-depth know-how and a highly motivated team of experts have already ensured the successful implementation of important projects such as the Kühtai, Tauernmoos and Kaunertal power plants in recent years.
The current main construction lot includes the construction of a 14 km long headrace with a surge tank and underwater tunnel, the construction of a cavern including an access and drainage tunnel, and the construction of an underwater basin.

Alliance contract underlines partnership-based cooperation
After very positive experiences with alliance contracts in earlier power plant projects, SWIETELSKY is once again relying on this contract model with the partners Implenia Österreich GmbH and Ing. Hans Bodner Bau GesmbH & Co KG together with the client TIWAG – Tiroler Wasserkraft AG. The focus is on cooperation at eye level, fair risk distribution and an optimised, efficient construction process.
For the first time, an innovative partnering approach was chosen in line with the early contractor involvement model, in which the planning of the project was optimised together in advance and the sense of community was strengthened. This should later be reflected in a smoother project flow.
