The best of both worlds creates customer advantages in large-scale residential construction.
Numerous metropolitan areas in Europe have been facing rapidly growing populations and an increasing demand for affordable housing for years. At the same time, there is worldwide pressure on the construction industry to reduce its significant share of energy and resource consumption as well as its CO2 emissions. Innovative solutions are urgently needed to reconcile these seemingly contradictory objectives. The new cooperation between the binderholz Group and Austria's third-largest construction company SWIETELSKY is one such solution.
Individually planable system construction with industrial prefabrication
With b_solution, binderholz has launched an individually planable system construction solution made from industrially prefabricated solid wood components for multi-story residential construction after years of development work. Each b_solution construction project is transformed into a 3D model with all system details and equipment information. The production of the b_solution system components takes place directly from this so-called digital twin at the highly automated production facility at the binderholz location in Hallein.
Due to the continuous digitization of all processes, b_solution stands for reliability in quality, time, and price. The b_solution construction method is fast, dry, clean, quiet, and relies on a sustainable and renewable raw material through the consistent use of solid wood in all components. Wood is a natural CO2 and energy storage, fully reusable and recyclable.
Cross-material competence from a single source
To realize b_solution projects, conventional construction services are also needed, for example, for foundations, garage floors, outdoor facilities, access roads, or interior construction services. Here, Swietelsky AG comes into play with its wide range of services as a full-service construction provider, not least as a financially strong and reliable general contractor. SWIETELSKY CEO Karl Weidlinger stated: “Through the cooperation with binderholz, we are improving our performance, especially in standardized and large-scale residential construction.” Independent activities in other areas of wood and hybrid construction will continue to exist and will still be offered under the SWIEtimber brand and by SWIETELSKY subsidiaries, Weidlinger added.
The advantages of the cooperation with binderholz are clear: a single point of contact that provides comprehensive competent advice, can offer the entire project from a single source, and enables both joint venture contracts and general contractor contracts. This ensures that sustainable wood construction is also provided at competitive prices in multi-story residential construction through industrial production. Initially, the focus will be on the Austrian market. However, an expansion of the offering across borders is also within reach.
