LDZ Drohnenaufnahme 04

The Salzburg State Service Center (LDZ) is a major construction project that will create a new administrative hub for the State of Salzburg. The 13-storey building—ten levels above ground and three below—will provide around 50,000 m² of net usable floor space and, once completed at the end of 2026, accommodate up to 1,300 workplaces as well as a large public service center.

Timber-hybrid construction and robust foundations

A key feature of the project is its innovative timber-hybrid design: approximately 2,500 timber beams and 540 timber columns are being installed, totaling around 1,600 m³ of wood in combination with concrete. The foundation concept is equally robust, with 214 bored piles reaching depths of up to 40 meters—necessary due to the site’s proximity to the Salzach River.

Despite the challenging inner-city location, carefully planned logistics are ensuring smooth progress and adherence to a tight schedule.

Sustainability is central to the LDZ’s operation: photovoltaic panels will supply renewable electricity, and geothermal energy will be harnessed via activated diaphragm walls and bored piles—supporting an efficient, future-oriented energy concept.
