The building material of the future: an overview of the advantages

There are more and more reasons to use timber. It is the only building material that is produced environmentally friendly by the sun and actively stores CO₂.

  • Sustainable: one cubic metre of timber used in construction stores one tonne of CO₂. This raw material is constantly growing back in our forests.
  • Stable & light: In relation to its own weight, wood has a high load-bearing capacity and also performs very well in comparison to other building materials. The advantage of wood is that it offers good load-bearing capacity with comparatively low weight and is therefore particularly suitable for many construction applications.

  • Fireproof & predictable: In the event of a fire, wood forms a protective layer of charcoal that slows down the spread of the fire. Its load-bearing capacity is retained for a long time and can be calculated precisely.
  • High degree of prefabrication: Elements are prefabricated in the factory to fit precisely. This ensures clean, fast and predictable assembly on the construction site.
  • Natural well-being: As a natural material, wood creates a pleasant indoor climate.

Cost and construction time are often decisive factors in commercial construction. This is where timber construction proves its strengths: thanks to the high degree of prefabrication, a project can be completed particularly quickly.

Timber construction is conquering cities. Since the harmonisation of Austrian building regulations (OIB guidelines), multi-storey buildings made of timber have become standard. We construct office and residential buildings using skeleton construction, solid timber ceilings or timber-concrete composite construction. These are stable, fire-safe and state-of-the-art.

Extensions, conversions, additions and renovations

When space is at a premium, timber is the ideal solution. Its low weight makes it perfect for extensions, especially in urban areas.
